Art Made From a Life Fully Lived

I’m Suzanne Carrasquillo—SUZY—a California based Puerto Rican artist, author, maker, and founder of Devas Creations LLC.

Devas Creations LLC grew from a lifetime of building, repairing, creating, and finding ways to make something meaningful from what life leaves behind. I work across many mediums, including original painting, laser engraving, personalized woodwork, vinyl, candles, and mixed-media art. I have never believed creativity belongs inside one box.

My work is shaped by foster care, motherhood, loss, domestic violence, chronic illness, and the loneliness of feeling unseen in a relationship. Some of these experiences are behind me; others I am still finding my way through.

Creating is part of how I reclaim my voice, my independence, and a sense of possibility. My art does not come from having everything resolved. It comes from continuing to feel, imagine, and build a life that belongs to me.

My background in psychology and social services also taught me how deeply people need to be seen, heard, and remembered. That understanding appears throughout my art in themes of identity, family, survival, spirituality, grief, remembrance, and the connections we carry across generations.

Some pieces begin with a memory. Some begin with pain, love, laughter, or a person who should not be forgotten. Others simply begin with an idea that refuses to leave me alone until I give it form.

Whether I am painting an original work, engraving a family name, or creating a gift for an important moment, I want it to feel personal and human. I do not create from a perfect life. I create from a real one.
